For Parents and Guardians of Children Using The Outlines Websites

The Children's Online Privacy Protections Act of 1998 (COPPA) was enacted by the United States Federal Trade Commission to protect the privacy of children under the age of 13 on the Internet.

How We Protect Children

Under the guidelines of COPPA, with limited exceptions, we are required to obtain verifiable parental consent before we can collect or use any personal information from a child under the age of 13. In addition, parents have the right to know what types of information we collect from children, to review any personal information collected from their own child, to have information deleted from our records and not used in the future.

1.
We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting or using any individually identifiable personal information about children visiting our web site.

2.
We provide reasonable means for parents to review any personal information collected from their children and to refuse permission to use or continue the use of such personal information.

3.
We do not require a child to disclose more personal information than is reasonably necessary as a condition for the child to participate in any game, contest, offering of a prize, drawing or other activity on our web site.

4.
We establish and maintain reasonable security procedures to protect the confidentiality, security, integrity and any personal information collected from children.

5.
We will obtain new parental consent if we materially change our practices regarding the collection of such personal information.

6.
Certain exceptions to the parental consent rule apply. We may collect an e-mail address or other online contact information from a child without parental consent for the sole purpose of responding directly to: one-time specific request from the child, such as e-mail. When we receive e-mail from a child, we respond within 2 weeks of receipt of the e-mail. As soon as the response is sent to the child, the content of the child's e-mail and e-mail address is deleted from our system.

What Information Do We Collect and Why?

Gallery - Children can submit drawings or photographs to be posted in the Gallery. The drawings or photographs can be sent by regular or electronic mail and must be accompanied by the Parental Consent Form that can be printed from the Gallery page. The child's first name, age, full postal address and e-mail address are requested. Upon receipt, we e-mail the parent to confirm receipt of the drawing and the Parental Consent Form. The best drawings or photographs are selected and posted in the Gallery. The drawings are posted on our web site with the first name, last name if requested by the child or parent and age of each child posted under his/her drawing. The e-mail and postal addresses are deleted when the artwork is removed from the site. We do not consider any drawings sent without the Parental Consent Form.

If at any time a parent/guardian wishes to withdraw their consent to any of the above areas, they can contact us using the information listed below and any information about their child will be deleted from the applicable area(s). We do not use the features of your browser to set "cookies" on your computer.
